Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Hounds

Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Hounds This book is an addition to the comical Dr Xargle s book of series This book takes a unique look Earthlings and Earthlings best friend Earth hounds from the perspective of aliens This book allows the reader and audience to take a step back and laugh at the silly things we do and the really strange concept of inviting a wild animal into our home and making it one of the family Once again I think this book is a great way to address misconceptions that could be created by children who don t have or are not used to having a dog in the home This book could inspire children to research pet dog care and, as part of a project, create an information booklet on how to care for dogs This would be a great cross curricular task that could cover literacy, art and PSHE I think that this book would be great for an EYFS, KS12 classroom However some of the comical value might be lost on children who have developed misconceptions about dog care. An absolute hoot.I collect children s books because I love the illustrations and Tony Ross is a brilliantly sassy artist One of my favourite This book shines too because the text is so funny as well Warm, funny, heart warming I think this book is exceptionally endearingEarth Hounds have buttons for eyes, a sniffer with two holes in and a long, pink flannel With the pink flannel they lick their undercarriages. I just wish I could show you the illustration which accompanies the undercarriage licking The book is real delight. Full of understated misinterpretations and over the top Tony Ross illustrations, this book is as hilarious for adults as it is for children If your library doesn t have a copy, we suggest swimming to the U.K to find one It s worth the trip.Listen to our chat about this book on our JustOneMoreBook.com Children s Book Podcast So much love for this book Children will love it quirky Science Fiction This book was delightful and a great way to introduce young readers to the genre The alien professor is teaching his class about dogs and gets most of his facts straight Definitely, one I would read aloud to my students By Jeanne Willis Tony RossDr Xargle is a series of picture books written by Jeanne Willis, with illustrations by Tony Ross which are brilliant and they tell the story effortlessly An alien professor teacher has a class of children on his home planet, he tells them about the unique observations he has made of Planet Earth and its inhabitants He takes his students with him on field trips to Earth whilst wearing human disguises This one in particular is about the teaching of hounds on Earth and their day s activities, its illustrations are perfectly executed perceiving them all to be alien like I think it is a great twist to a story about human life and a core of awful truth.
