Copyright attorney Rep Pennyworht and his English professor wife, Melissa deal with a cast of obsessive, eccentric characters inside and outside academia I enjoyed this book than 3 but not quite a 4 because some of the plot twists are so convoluted you almost need a diagram to keep track of whats happening and to whom As Kirkus reviews says as usual in this waggish series, you ll need a scorecard to follow the cascading complications I just found some of it to be overdone and a distraction from the story I ll be looking for other tales featuring these character. I loved the witty dialogue between Rep and Melissa as well as other characters Also appreciated the many fun Milwaukee references A fun read. Another of Bowen s intelligent, witty novels Lawyer Rep and his wife, academic Melissa, become entangled with some of her colleagues and students, and a woman whose father owned a machine tool company Also involved are some of Rep s lawyer friends and adversaries, plus a few other Milwaukans There are several trials, than one murder, and confusion that only the Pennyworths can resolve. With its Midwestern ties, the book is interesting if not riveting I enjoyed the language used While not a must read , the book has an unforeseen ending. When A Frat Boy Finds Himself On Trial In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, For Piracy On The High Seas, Lawyer Rep Pennyworth, Suspects Heas Being Used As An Unwitting Accomplice In A Cheap Publicity Stunt Meanwhile His Wife Melissa, The Professor Half Of The Couple, Gets Caught In The Middle Of A Verbal Firefight Between Two Colleagues At A Literary Conference That Soon Escalates Into Burglary, Theft, Jury Tampering, Forgery Of An Explosive Papal Document From World War IIaand Murder the 4th in a series featuring Rep and Melissa Pennyworth The couple investigate murder and corporate competitiveness Hated this book was a BookBrowse First Impressions freebie.
