This brief comic tie in to author Tempe O Kun s Sixes Wild series, illustrated by anthropomorphic artist Sidian, opens with a rabbit vagrant playing cards with wolves, who accuse him of cheating, and he retaliates, being saved by the town s bat Sheriff Blake, who takes the rabbit, Six, to jail, with a slight twist towards the end Definitely an enjoyable comic that gets this reviewer interested in the main Sixes Wild series.

I read this as an introduction to the characters and setting before Manifest Destiny My only prior knowledge of Tempo s work was Windfall and this comic was written very differently It is clear this is intended to be read after Manifest Destiny rather than a teaser for it.

Long ago, I picked up Tempe s Sixes Wild Manifest Destiny and saw this on Smashwords I picked it up thinking it was an ebook only to find out it was a comic Imagine my surprise, so because it looked like hell on my Kobo and didn t do it justice Over the last while, I have been looking at it but never having the urge to read it until now.The story is interesting, if extremely short That s one of the issues with stand alone comics, you can t get a lot into it without making it a long running series Still, with what little room he had, Tempe manages to give you a look at his two primary characters and the relationship between them He also gives away the big secret about the hare, though there s no harm in that at all.The art style fits Tempe s story extremely well, though than once I found myself looking at a panel where things looked awkward Be it the POV, or the expression on the character s face, it just looked awkward and gave me pause Thankfully this wasn t enough to pull me completely out of the piece and ended up being a minor distraction if anything I will say that putting this story into a visual media makes the lawbat s unique physiology far apparent than in the written format It is very unique and a good take on how anthropomorphising something like a bat could look, however in the visual media, especially with how muscular the legs were drawn, added a level of awkwardness to the storyline But, that was my observation and others may not find it so.In the end, this was a nice little comic to introduce someone to Tempe s novel involving these characters If you are interested in reading the novel, I recommend tracking down the comic and giving it a look.
