Bestest romcom Laughing out loud on a park bench levels of hilarious. Best EPub, Le Menteur Author Pierre Corneille This Is Very Good And Becomes The Main Topic To Read, The Readers Are Very Takjup And Always Take Inspiration From The Contents Of The Book Le Menteur, Essay By Pierre Corneille Is Now On Our Website And You Can Download It By Register What Are You Waiting For Please Read And Make A Refission For You Pretty funny I can definitely see myself reading this again in the future, although it is a bit reminiscent of Dom Juan Thus, its originality lacks a bit However, it is quite poetically written, which makes it pleasant to read. I love farce, and this is a really good one I would be very interested to read this in Corneille s original French which would require me to learn French because there were a ton of Shakespeare references, and I wonder whether those are Ives addition or whether Shakespeare had reached such canonical status in France by 1643 that Corneille could casually throw in lines from his plays I found allusions to Hamlet, Othello, As You Like It, King Lear, and the sonnets, and I m sure there are to find for the person with a greater familiarity with Shakespeare and who is mining Ives Corneilles text for the references. But I really enjoyed the metatheatricality of this play, including the Shakespeare references, but also things like Cliton coming out at the beginning and providing an epilogue where he exhorts the audience to silence their cellphones obviously not in the 1643 original , and these other references to theatrical culture and play going etiquette. I ve been a huge fan of David Ives for years now, based soley on having read All In The Timing prior to now The Liar, although a reworking rather than an original of Ives , brilliantly demonstrates the man s knowledge of comedy in the spoken and visual forms I m not certain how far he has deviated, as I ve not read the original play by Pierre Corneille, but there is an unmistakable fingerprint in the updated language within the Iambic Pentameter, making the outdated form remarkably easy to read and hear And the wordplay is perfect Given the right cast, this could be the funniest play I ve ever seen the imaginary cast that I came up with in my head did a pretty decent job making me chuckle All in all, I d highly recommend it to any theater lover, comedy lover, or fans of reading in general. This is the third play I ve read adapted by David Ives and he is simply brilliant He honors the original plot by preserving its humor while updating the text and making it relevant and acceptable to current audiences Comedies are much harder to adapt because the original text often contains a lot of inside jokes that were humorous at the time the play was conceived In order to maintain its comedic affect, the play must be updated and David Ives does so with flair. A good farce and humorous Definitely a Plautine plot with the confused identity and the roles of servant and father supporting and impeding the young lover I listened to the LA theatre production and enjoyed it enough to hope to see the play one day I think overall I prefer straight or dramatic theatre though. I played Isabelle in the production my high school held my freshman year It was the most exciting, fun, raunchy, and hilarious times of my life thus far The Liar is a huge part of me Undeniably amazing. Very funny and sharp This play had me laughing from the beginning I wish I could see it performed.
