An emotional, sweet, and wonderful read, Whisper to Me was a fantastic New Adult Romance I really liked this book It was a lovely additional to a brilliant series.Rachel was a lovely heroine She went through a lot after a motorcycle accident, and she came out stronger than before She was determined not to let that part of her life keep her down I really liked her She was a great character.Kai was wonderful as well He was a character who wasn t quite sure of himself For one, he was confused about what he wanted to do with is future For another, despite being extremely attractive, he didn t believe that he had something to offer a girl Those insecurities made him even sweeter and made him sympathetic But, he was also very loyal and protective of his loved ones and, once he set his mind to something, very determined I thought he was adorable. The romance was good On one hand, Rachel and Kai were great together They had loved each other for a while and they were just a perfect match Not to mention the sizzling chemistry between them But, it was so frustrating how they took so long to admit their feelings to themselves and each other and even longer to finally decide to make it official It just got really frustrating, because everyone else saw it, but they couldn t admit it But, overall, I thought they were a lovely couple. The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through There were a few secrets in store, hiding in the characters pasts and they added a nice element of unpredictability I really enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely Whisper I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review I m thrilled to share Rachel and Kai s story with you This is book three in The Between Breaths Series, but can also be read as a standalone WHISPER TO ME brings the prodigal party girl back home to the boy next door turned friend with secret benefits With this steamy tale of requited lust and chemistry, Lee peels Touch Him Again After All, This Is Only A Temporary Fling Until It Becomes Something But Maybe It Had Been All Along My favorite type of YA NA book is one that is sweet, with low angst no idiotic characters , low frustration again, no idiotic characters , and one with a lovely romance in the center of it.This one had everything that works for me, I enjoyed it from start to finish The writing style is amazing, I m definitely going to read from this author ASAP The main guy, Kai Loved, loved loved him He is secretly in love with his best friend, and now they finally have a chance to be together, even if it s her taking comfort from him and using him to feel better Yeah that sounds terrible but that s just what he THINKS This is a hot NA, we have a pierced dude in various places with a dirty mouth, so that makes for all kinds of yummy. What elseI think I loved the romance best here, especially from Kai s POV , him being secretly in love, and then she falls for him too but they are both afraid to admit itWhy 4 stars It had too much sex I d like a bit story to it instead, but all in all it was great reading it Anyway, this is just a wonderful, make me feel good and make me feel hot and bothered book, a huge rec for all YA NA lovers Whisper to Me was a romance of unrequited love, filled with longing and emotion Rachel is back in her hometown for the summer where the past she tries to forget through mindless hookups and a carefree fa ade comes slamming back to her None of her friends from college know that Rachel was in an accident that almost killed her requiring months of rehab or that her boyfriend, Miles, turned his back on her and left when Rachel needed him most The only people who stuck with her were parents, and her two best friends Dakota and Kai Dakota was the unrelenting cheerleader but Kai was the tender soul who brushed away her tears and held her when despair threatened to consume her Even with her heart in shreds over Miles, Rachel wasn t oblivious to Kai s appeal And now that she s back, he stirs up a mix of emotions intense desire, feeling of home, and fear Kai never had a shortage of girls after him with his looks, and the fact he played in a band But there s always only been one girl for Kai Rachel When she got hurt he helped nurse her back to health all the while falling a little in love with her each day, knowing she didn t feel the same When Rachel left for college Kai spent his years studying recording and messing around Now that they re both back home their relationship has shifted into a powerful, needy attraction.Rachel and Kai have this magnetic attraction for each other made even intense from their close bond of friendship Unfortunately, both think their draw is only physical, and they re insecure about letting on how deeply they really feel But this was a different kind of weakness that I never would have guessed I would witness She d hoped I found her desirable Me The boy who she didn t even fucking realize loved her The one who already worshiped her, body and soul.I really felt for Rachel The last book she came off as a no strings attached kind of girl, just looking for the next random guy to have fun with, but we get the full story behind her behavior here Returning home brings some clarity and closure to Rachel and she realizes she no longer wants to live a lie or keep others at arm s length This romance was filled with so much tortured longing I felt my chest tighten up and ache in places I just wanted Kai and Rachel to fess up and let each other in all the way Kai was protective and tender, but he could be a dirty talker, too, and they had some crazy hot encounters Lusty scenes full of sexual tension Christina Lee wrote a steamy romance full of emotions that will tug at your heart I m not sure who the next book, Promise Me This, will center on, but I m thinking maybe Dakota and Shane I guess we ll see A copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. 3.5 4.0 You Get Me Stars This is finally Rachel s tale It is the chance to meet the out going gal with the mysterious past and the scar Her life back in her home town is quite different from the life she has portrayed at TSU Rachel was the typical HS gal who fell in love young an suffered the worst consequences of a broken heart Literally shattered in body and soul after an accident, she had one constant in her lifeher best friend s older brother Kai Kai was the source of comfort and strength for Rachel during her rehabilitation He never expressed his innermost longings to want to be to her When Rachel could walkshe didto a new life Both she had Kai spent so much time trying to be something other than what they both truly were These two characters are immersed in the world of what other s think Maybe it is time to just let gobecause when they are together, that is exactly what they do They get each other better than any one else in their lives.I enjoyed this read better than book 2 I liked that there were two characters with well developed back storythey wanted one another and tried for the sake of everyone else to fight it But just one night, one opportunity andI will say that wowzaKai is the most patient pleasing man I have ever read He gives to Rachel and never takes in return Again, he gets her Yes there was a lot of mixed communication and the angst is not high The drama is pretty lame in typical HS bullsh , but overall the character connection was good In the end Kai and Rachel were than friends, they were each other s it. This book Wow Let me just say, Kai brings HOT to a whole new level Aside from the scorching chemistry between Kai and Rachel, this book also deals with intense emotions Rachel s past is devastatingly real and heart breaking And Kai s insecurities over who he is and how he and others define him makes him all the lovable WHISPER TO ME is hands down my favorite in the Between Breaths series, and I cannot wait to see what Christina Lee brings to the table with her next work She is now officially on my auto buy list I love all of Christina Lee s books to date, but WHISPER TO ME is by far my favorite I couldn t put it down It made me tear up and it made me swoon 5 stars NEW ADULT FTW I was actually considering vlogging video blogging this review but nah You guys don t want to see my squeeeeeing x 10 faces right While I was reading, I had to pause several times and just sigh in contentment to how perfect this book is At times it s sweet, but not sickeningly so it s emotional, but not to the point where it s tear inducing, and above all, this book is the epitome of what quality New Adult literature is, fully encompassing the transition between adolescence and true adulthood These days, so many books ride the coattails of an overused book theme bad boy falls for virgin heroine however, Whisper to Me doesn t Rather than be about a particular theme or popular idea that would certainly appeal to the masses, instead, this story is character driven and has a very well paced and thought out plot A few other aspects I had to note were Low angst level Highly likable characters who are also easy to relate to or maybe it s just me since I m about their age Conflicts in the story are very realistic never did I feel like drama and conflict was unnecessary or contrived Incredible writing Syntax variety isn t something a lot of authors can do and do it well but Christina Lee hits the nail on the head Even though this is the third book in the Between Breaths series, it can definitely be read as a standalone this is coming from someone who doesn t remember much from book 1, didn t read book 2 which I need to rectify immediately , and was still captivated and totally invested in this story and characters The author provides just the right amount of background info so even if you re new to her work, you won t feel lost at all You don t need to know much about the plot itself the blurb is actually a really good summary and indication of what the book is about Here are some brief character descriptions of the main characters Kai half Dutch, half Native American and a pierced dirty talker I had dreams about this fellow guys I would give 10 stars to his character if I could All his life he s been perceived a certain way and was never able to shake it off All everyone sees is a hot bad boy who messes up in life, and Rachel is the only one who s been able to see that he s so much The author really did a good job of portraying their deep connection, both on a physical level and emotional level these two are equals Rachel She s outwardly sarcastic, tough, and big flirt, yet she hides a very painful secret only a few know including Kai This ordeal pretty much scarred her for life, and she bears the physical scars to prove it Rachel s the kind of girl I want to be best friends with. This is a book I would recommend to everyone but especially to those who need a romance story that s nostalgic, steamy, and will leave you with a big smile on your face It s also thought provoking book that sheds light on the beauty of relationships friendships I could use multiple adjectives to describe the story authentic, sexy, sensational, etcbut I m going with perfect as it really is one perfect love story ARC provided by Penguin Intermix via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Full review posted on May 20th, 2014My first Christina Lee novel was a such sweet and hot experience Yes, hot I warn you this is a full blooded new adult romance which means no readers under the age of 18 Other than that, Whisper To Me is a part of the series, it is third book in Between Breaths but it can be read as standalone, you won t miss anything if you haven t read previous stories. Why I swooned Kai Nakos Tanja and I are always swooning over the perfect book boyfriends and this boy is so one of them He s a perfect mix of bad and good boy who fights for the girl he loves Friends to lovers best friend s brother storyline I love this kind of stories They have a dash star crossed lovers, but with the happy ending No insta love, no fainting and lusting at the first sight You have two people who know each other well, but still find out about things that surprise them Epic make out scenes Oh, boy Christina Lee is very verbal when it comes to those Few things that might bother you Typical new adult If you are not a fan of this genre, it s probably the best to skip it or read it only if you are in mood for it, because Whisper To me has all cliches Writing Too repetitive at times and charters tend to think in circles More telling than showing Focused on romance and main characters.Final verdict Sweet and predictable love story you ll enjoy reading when you feel craving for few hours of mindless fun Or when your boyfriend husband drives you crazy and mad and you need fictional boyfriends that will bring back your faith in real life men Review posted at Ja itam, a ti My first Christina Lee novel was So Damn Good Full review next weekCopy of the book provided by publisher, InterMix Penguin, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review Read during Bout of Books read a thon
