This was so good I bought the next in the chronological series while in the midst of reading this one. This covers pretty much the entire span of art and decorative arts within the period, from architecture to bookbinding to fashion to table silver. It's very good in tracing how things evolved within the period and while I would ALWAYS like more pictures to illustrate topics like this, each section did have a goodly number of them.
